  1. Check the belt. Good luck!

  2. This might be a something to consider....   Did you ever think that is why they were selling the appliances in the first place, because the belt or motor was going out?

Could be.  But you really should have someone look at it...   it will not be repairing itself and sounds like there is definately already a problem

    Thanks for reading.

  3. I would pull out the lint trap and maybe even try putting a small attachment on a vacuum in there to suck out any lint that's built up from falling off the lint trap.  Sometimes lint will build up and when the dryer is running it smells like something is burning.

  4. Most likely the load was a bit to much for the washer and the belt driving it was strecthed and that is the odor.  It will probably be ok, just wash smaller loads to avoid wearing the belt or stretching it more.

  5. My washing machine had the same problem. IT COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD. Check behind your washing machine. We smelled burning, and looked at the back, and there was a huge burnt-scorch mark running up the back of the machine!! We had our washing machine for about 4 years and just got it replaced yesterday. The man who installed the new one said that we could have had a huge house fire with the old one.

  6. The belt is probably slipping or needs replacing.  Or, the comforter is too large to be washed in your machine and the smell is that of a hot motor.

  7. Don't tell the place you bought it that you washed a comforter!!!  It may have been too big for your washer, and the drive belt couldn't take it.  Call the store and tell them to replace it.  Just say you washed normal loads of clothes and bath towels.

  8. Your comforter got caught in the washer, which caused the belt to spin in the pully, so that is what "burnt" your rubber belt.
