1. The first temperature listed is the washing temp, and the second is the rinse water temp.

  2. warm wash and cold water rinse

    hot wash and cold rinse

  3. I dont' use hot or cold. I use warm/cold.

The first word is what the wash cycle is washed in: cold water, warm water, hot water.

The second word is always cold. That's the rinse cycle. It uses cold water to rinse your clothes.

For stained clothes and whites, use the hottest water possible. You usually use cold for 100%cotton items that you don't wanna shrink. Use the labels on your clothes to determine the appropriate settings.

Edit: you save money washing with cold, but purchase a detergent specifically made for cold water. Cold water is less efficient in removing stains and it doesn't activate the detergent as well.

  4. the first temperature is the wash temp and the second temp is the rinse temp. So warm/warm means the wash is warm and the rinse is warm. You can save a bundle by washing everything in cold.
