My washing machine is overlowing?

I am not sure how to determine what the problem is because there are several options. It could be in the water level dial,or the inlet valve or anything else. I did experiment turned on water and no water came into the machine hot and cold anyway I tried on switch water level knop? I am lost here

What is overlowing?

If no water comes in it cannot overflow

If you think the problem is with the machine, it is best to call an appliance repair guy.
