Question:

My washing machine leaks some kind of greenish oil... is it true it could run a long time before braking down?

The machine works perfectly fine for now. Even a month after this poddle of greenish oil poured out. No weird sound or bizarre behavior. I feel it is the transmission that's leaking, but since it functions correctly, I hesitate in spending time and $$$ on this old timer. If it can last a year or more, I will wait for it to really brake down and then replace it... Any pro has a relevant opinion on this ??? Thanx in advance guys.

  1. Since this is the lower seal leaking it should be simple to replace.  Depending on the size of leak, all the oil will run out and burn up the transmission or the leak will saturate the drive belt causing slippage.

  2. I agree that it is probably transmission oil. You may want to start looking for parts now. Murphys Law says it will break at the most inconvienient time.
