i always (well, more like sometimes) check to see that my water bottle (i use the plastic ones) is tightly closed before stuffing it in my backpack. but there have been a few incidents where it leaks all over my books and papers, one time even on my $130 calculator (yea, my mom was NOT very thrilled about that lol) . should i buy one of those re-usable ones? which one do you suggest?

  1. buy a glass water bottle they have a good seal and your water will tast better then those yucky plastic ones

you paid £130 for a calculator??? OMG i bought mine for £1.95 at tesco,s

  2. Yes, use a re-usable water bottle for sure. Water bottles that are not recycled account for a lot of unnecessary waste.

An under counter water filtration system can be used to take the impurities and contaminants out of your water and along with filling it up everyday and taking it with you you will ensure you've done your part in helping to save the planet.

  3. Re-using disposable bottles may not be a good idea because there is a suggestion that they leach harmful chemicals and are only recommended for one time use.

A good re-usable bottle will be made to be re-used.  A really good one will be insulated.

More than likely the bottle isn't leaking, it's condensating. An insulated bottle will prevent this. If you don't have or want an insulated one wrapping the bottle in a paper towel will also help keep your paper dry.

  4. Yeah, that'd be a good idea.  You have to remember the weight of those books is a lot and your backpack get's thrown around a lot.  A water bottle's packaging is made to make it handle the shipping environment it goes through and not much more than that.

After the container has been opened it is going to be more likely to leak because the bottle is not full of pressure.  Once the pressure inside is gone, the bottle can bend easily.  The more it bends, the more likely it is to develop a crack and leak.  Water bottles like what you get out of a vending machine are also made for 1 time use.  You are not supposed to use them over and over.  Those water bottles can degrade and when they start degrading they aren't healthy to drink out of.

If you buy a reusable water bottle that is plastic, then I recommend buying one made out of polypropylene (PP or # 5).  Polypropylene can take bending better than any other plastic without cracking.  It is also one of the best for being able to be used in a microwave.  You'll notice most of the plastic microwaveable trays will say PP or # 5.  If you want a strong hard plastic, # 2 or HDPE would probably be the best.  Or you could just get a metal reusable drink bottle.

  5. If you are looking for a substitute for competence in the real world, your wet pack is trying to tell you something. Regards, Larry.

  6. i would suggest a stainless steal reusable water bottle. I just bought one today for school this year and i already love it :)

  7. There are leak proof water bottles and not the kind you are presently reusing.Just invest a couple of bucks and you will eliminate the wet knapsack.

  8. I wonder if you are using one of the "sport-tip" bottles - with the pop-out nozzle at the top. If so, switch to a regular twist-off top. I re-use bottles all the time without an issue.
