Depends on what is available to you, your price range and the style of music you want.  But make sure they are decent, I have had so many disasters with DJ's with no wedding background and bands that never rehearsed together prior to the wedding.  My tip, listen before you hire!

I think it depends on the space you have and your budget and of course availability. We have a Dj booked for our wedding. We wanted a Dj anyway but even if we wanted a band, we can't have one because there is not enough space in the function room.

If you can at all afford it, a band for sure! Nothing beats a live band at a wedding!

I would go with a Dj. Band members will need to take a Breather so you way have a few moment of awkward silence. Also bands members may not have the "GOTTA HAVE" that song available or know how to play your favorite song. So my suggestion to you is a Dj..But that is my personal choice.

It's your wedding so you pick.

I've been trying to decide this as well.  DJ's are more common so everyone is telling me to go that route instead of the band but live bands are a different kind of experience that I think would be special at my wedding reception.  I think if you are very picky about exactly what songs and what version should be played, do DJ.  If you just want the very best quality music and a memorable experience with people dancing, do band.

Bands alone are fun, but my son also had a great DJ...he was funny, interactive with the group and it was great.

well band if its good people that everyone likes or that r new and undiscovered or a dj thats interactive fun and has lots of great music my school always has a great dj come to our dances each month so it'll be fun with a dj im sure

We have decided on a DJ but they are expensive, to us anyway. Our DJ gave us a deal and is charging us 525.00. He will play any song we want and announce all the things that need to be announced like cutting the cake, or throwing the bouquet etc. Usually a band doesnt do that.
