  1. Winter is best represented by white, silver, platinum and light blue. These are the perfect color choice for a winter theme wedding. You can incorporate these colors in the bride, groom and wedding attendants attire. White for the bride and groom, light blue and / or silver for the attendants. However, you have other options too. You may have the bridesmaids dresses made of fabric with snow flakes or stars motif that may even accented with white fur like fabric. Since you are planning gifts for your bridesmaids and flower girls, present them with Swarovski crystal on silver with or without pearls, or pearl jewelry on silver such as that offered in our discount mall. Tiaras should also be studded with swarovski crystals and or pearls on silver. The Swarovski jewelry glitsens like snow in the sun while pearls offer the prism. What a wonderful yet inexpensive way to have your bridal party match the winter theme of your wedding.

CHOOSE WINTER THEME INVITATIONS AND STATIONERY.

Whether holiday, or season related, there are many winter scene stationery items and invitations available to choose from, including do it yourself - print your own stationery.

    WINTER WEDDING RECEPTION:

Look for a reception hall that has a fireplace. If lighting a real fire is not permitted, use make-believe logs that look like real lit fireplace. Many stores carry them. You may also check with your local theater for props.

Use silver serving pieces, glass or crystal drinkwear and winter white dishes.

Decorate with silver, white, platinum and light blue. Use one of the colors or coordinate these colors for your table cloths and napkins, garlands, streamers, icicles, tinsel, balloons, ribbons, flowers with silver ribbons in silver vases, flickering light strings, snow flakes or stars etc... You may wish to spray your decorations with sparkle or fake snow. White and blue tulle will also help create a winter atmosphere.

If you can afford it, hire an ice sculptor. If not, do it yourself, make your own ice sculpture with kits available at A-wedding day.

Ice sculptures will be a magnificent addition.

If your wedding reception venue permits it, be sure to use candles to depict warmth.

Either or both, ice sculpture and candles make very elegant centerpieces.

  2. what about making it a winter wonderland theme like have icy blue and snowflacke decorations but make it more sophisticated and try not to overdo it and make it look like a childs party oh  and congrats

  3. January is the beginning of a new year, so... you can go with the white for pure and some glitter and shiny as the theme for the New year.

My son just got married and we had a military wedding, being he is in the Army...well, the new couple almost did a mid evil theme. They seriously had plans right down to the wedding party wearing the medieval gowns and drinking out of goblets, I thought it would have been kinda different and interesting. But... Mother of the bride...you know how that goes.

  4. I love the idea of white and silver....maybe snowflakes !!

  5. a winter wonderland theme... Play up the fact that it is winter.

Use candles, bright colors go great with snow white bridal stuff, holly and fir branches... you could have a ball with this.

  6. Have you thought about doing a winter themed wedding? They are very popular right now. You can have white and ice or baby blue as your primary colors and decorate with beautiful snowflakes. Winter weddings are so elegant.

this link has many good ideas:

  7. A winter wonderland theme is so overdone and un-original. I think that you should do everything in black. Bridesmaid dresses, tuxes, linens etc. Then have alot of colored flowers. Match your girls flowers with the guys ties. Then have your bouquet pull in all the colors.

    For example

Girl one: Black dress, yellow flowers

Boy one: Black tux, yellow tie, yellow botineere (sp)

Girl two: Black dress, red flowers

Boy two: Black tux, red tie, red botineere

    Etc. Etc.

Then your boquet, the center pieces, the church flowers would all pull in the 5 or 6 colors that you choose (depending on the amount in your bridal party.)

Then do a dim lit reception with candles, colorful flowers, christmas lights, and the ball lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Very pretty!

  8. I've always thought that weddings with a color pattern or print theme is really cool. I'd consider doing like a black and white checkered thing. The bride can be white and the groom can be black with instead of a plain white shirt underneath the tux, maybe a checkered shirt!

You could also have a "green" wedding like celebrities do.

The color theme is like instead of having a white wedding dress, you could have like a red yellow or blue dress.

The groom could wear a black tux with a yellow shirt and then the bride can be holding yellow roses!

    Sound cool?

Or you could just to a traditional white wedding.

  9. A winter wonderland !

  11. Since it's winter, you should probably stick with heavier fabrics for your table linens and bridesmaid dresses, as well as your own dress.  Make sure you and your girls wear closed-toed shoes, even though your wedding will be indoors, because open-toed shoes look silly that time of year.  Maybe instead of the traditional winter wedding colors, like burgundy, forest green, etc. you can go for a cool ice blue and silver color combo, and decorate your reception space with hanging decorations that resemble icicles or snowflakes.

Several years ago, Joan Rivers' daughter Melissa had a winter-themed wedding that was supposed to look like a Russian winter forest.  Her marriage didn't last, sadly, but her wedding was very highly publicized and featured on InStyle Weddings.  Obviously her budget was pretty big, much bigger than the average bride, but it could easily be re-created for a lot cheaper.  I'm including a link so you can see pictures of it for yourself.

P.S.  What date in January?  My b-day's the 24th, so I always think of that as the greatest January day in history, LOL.
