My westinghouse freestyle freezer model

Question

my westinghouse freestyle freezer model number FJ3830-L*13 stops working now and then. On the back down the bottom left corner is a box. On this box is a small dial I turned this 1 click and the freezer started again. Now have I turned something I shouldn,t have. Could you please explain what the dial is for and why my freezer stops working. thank you Trevor
