  1. Hydrogen peroxide, leave it on for five minutes, then wash it out and condition his hair well.  Repeat the process until the stains are out.  I had to wash a gray (white!!!) egyption arabian mare who was petrified of water and a sprayer... but not mud... funny how that works.. anyway. after I put peroxide in twice, she was brilliant white again!

  2. Not household, but spot treat with Cowboy Magic Green Spot Remover. Then use Absorbine Show Clean Whitening Shampoo. Could make a paste, baking soda, peroxide, and o to town. Once he is white, baby powder or corn starch sprinkled on can help reduce how much hair is stained by absorbing the stains. Is cliping an option? Body clip and give the pee minimal hair to stain...

  3. dawn dish detergint or soap give a long bath!!!idk about the peroxide but i know wash him after cause it will stink

  4. bleach works good for geting stains out but don't leave it on very long.

a shampoo that works really nice is called white n brite and you can find it at tractor supply

  5. they sound like p**p STAINS!!...

no worries. they come off with a bath.

just use main and tail shampoo! it works miracles. just read the instructions and use a washing mitt to work it in!

  6. I feel your pain. My paint gelding has stains on his belly that won't come out. I've tried quick silver and everything. I ended up quicksilvering him so much that it actually started to turn the spot greyish. So if you are going to try any whiteing shampoos don't do it in mass dosses in a short period of time. I still havn't gotton all my horses stains out but I look forward to trying peroxide and dawn dish soap! Some of these sound like great ideas!

I know you've given him baths but I don't know since its summer if you've been giving him cold baths. But using warm water will help get rid of stains. A nice warm bath with ORVIS shampoo helped lighten my horses nasty stains. Oh and those quicksilver stains came right out with the warm water so don't worry bout it if you want to try QuickSilver becuase I still swear by that stuff!!

Goodluck with your stains! I hope this and everyones posts have helped!

  7. In the grocery store laundry section look for Little Boy Blue bluing liquid.  It is great.  Works for blonde manes as well..

Also baking soda is the best and also cheapest way to condition manes and tails.  mix it in with the shampoo when you bath him and they are silky when done.  It is a great human hair creme rinse also. AND its harmless...Baking soda will also remove hairspray build up.EM

  8. I have this problem with my white horse too. My friend, who also has a white horse, recommended Vetrolin Green Equine Spot Out. Works great on my horse. It comes in a green bottle and you can buy it anywhere you buy horse supplies.

  9. i use to own a white pony and i use to get an old soft brush put it in soapy water and brush and scrub the area.

  10. I'd try a whitning shampo and u might try white chalk

  11. There are no magic household things that work ideally.

I would bath your horse with warm water and Ivory dishdetergent.  Rinse him really well.  Then apply some of the special stain removing type shampoos, they are normally purple or blue in color.  Apply the shampoo directly to the stained areas and follow the instructions, normally you only leave them in 5 to 10 minutes or the hair will turn purplish in color!  Rinse them really, really well.  If the stain is mostly gone I would quit, often they will look lighter as they dry.  If its still awful I would apply the whitening shampoo to the stain one more time and leave again, then rinse well.

If that doesn't totally work you can try some of the "leave in" stain remover sprays.  They don't work magic, but they can help.  If you want to show your horse and he still has a stain, you can then apply a product to hide the stain.  There is white chalk products, or Shapley makes a white spray that can cover marks.

I show Paints.  My yearling gelding is 90% white, so I can feel your pain!  Be aware that if you look in the big breed pen you will see some wonderfully turned out white horses with strains that simple could not be removed by the very best products!  Prevention is a big part of the solution.  If possible keep your horse in a grassy turnout and you'll have way less dust and manure stains.  At a show make sure you blanket and slinky him, and perhaps apply leg wraps once he's been bathed.  Also, if you use a leave-in spray conditoner on him, it can make the stains easier to remove in the future.

    Good luck!

  12. i always used orvus shampoo on my blue roan.

other than that maybe dawn dish soap.  just don't use to much and rinse real good.

  13. i rode with a dressage stable for a while that showed lippizanners. they used dawn dish detergent everyday ( i wouldn't recommend that often) but if you use it three times a week they should go away. also quic silver horse shampoo works wonders.

  14. are you near the beach? sea water is the best way ever to get a white (grey!!) horse clean.. i had 2piebalds, 2greys.. we used to take them down to the beach, run them through the water.. luckily they all loved to roll in the wet sand... when they dry off give them a brush.. they are sparkling!!!! everyone used to comment on how clean my horses where ..lol!!

  15. to get out stains, use soap. big bottles of like dove liquid soap work well. if that doesn't work you can get him color suppluments that enhance their coloring.

  16. tooth paste

  17. A cheap way to get manure stains out is to use rubbing alcohol. Pour some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and spray some on the spots where the stains are. Then use a towel and rub really hard for a while. The stains should lighten and soon disappear.

If you are in a hurry, like going to a show or on show grounds and panicking use white chalk to cover the manure stains. Just rub the chalk the way the hairs go and they disappear!

    Good Luck!
