And she's willing to rent it to us for 1000 a month. It's a 7bd house and about 1500+ sqft. It's a sweeeeet deal. Problem is:

I have a special needs child and he goes to school in a suburb which has TONS of resources for him and he'd lose that if we moved. I teach in a decent working class city which is about 20 miles from sf and he could go there to school with me everyday. I also have a 3yr old son and worry about our safty as a family. My wife grew up in SF mission her whole life and she's 30 now. She "sometimes hears gunshots". I grew up in SUPER valley suburb area where crime is almost ZERO, and that's where I grew up my whole life. I'm really torn. The rent in my area is 2200 p/month for 3bd apartment.... So, she's OK with living in my area, but the deal in SF is super sweet. Any thoughts on safty?

  1. I understand your concerns, but I must say the last time I spent in SF & actually all of the times, I never felt unsafe. I lived in Vegas & I must say that SF is way safer. That is a great deal & u would be sharing a lifetime of remembories with your chillins.

  2. You should be safe there.    The real question would be your child.    He will only grow up once, you only have one shot to get him the resources he will need.    I would think SF had plenty of resources, but you should check into that before you make a choice.

You do not want to regret this later.  I do not know the special needs he has, but your choice could effect him and his quality of life from here on out.
