My wife always wants to pull what she thinks are weeds out of the garden?

Does anyone else think like I do, that she should leave growing things alone? I don't like those prickly dandelion type weeds but what's wrong with clover and those tall plants that have little daisy-type flowers on them. She says that they'll take over the garden if we let them, but I think they have a right to grow like anything else.

From where does she think flowers came?  My solution was to save the ones I liked including a purple thistle.  My husband and others are very careful to mow around the plants I mark with a piece of red yarn.  In two to three years you will have flowers (tiny or otherwise) that do not have to be planted again and again, year after year (saves the back too as it reduces stooping).

To have a successful garden you need to keep it weeded.  If not the weeds will smother the plants that you want to grow.  sorry I agree with your wife.

If you get too many weeds on your garden they will choke out the other plants and prevent them from growing and producing.

Weeds are simply unwanted plants.  Generally you pull them or kill them with a herbacide.  But it is a beauty in the eye of the beholder thing.  Your wife has a certain mental picture of how she wants her garden.  If it is hers and she maintains it let her alone, youll be happier in the long run.
