start the process now? How long does the process take? Preferably a child under 2 years of age and a girl. WHat are the steps and what are some good reliable agencies. Thanks, if the answer is long i dont mind.

  1. If you want a special order to your specification it will take longer.  Why not open your home and your heart to one of the thousands of lovely kids waiting in foster care?

Adoption is about finding homes for children after all, right?  Not finding a kid to meet YOUR needs

  2. Why not have your own baby?

  3. it is a long process i would start now. my aunt had all the adopions thing all signed and ready then she get pregnant a long ordeal for nothing lol but yes ut takes a long time. Remember you have to look after her really well.

  4. Yeah you might as well start now. As sometime it can take at least a year sometimes more to be placed. If you start your process now you’d be lucky to get a child by the end of 2008, of course it could be longer or even shorter.  As far as good agencies you might try the forums over at adoption.com

You'll have to go throw a homestudy, a social worker will visit your home. Speak to you and your wife together and even separately. Might even ask about some close friends and family they can speak too. I think you probably also have to take some parenting classes, first aid etc.

  6. I would recommend speaking with a local agency or foster care program in your area to see what type of time frames they have.  It is usually dependent on the type of adoption that you choose - international, domestic, foster/adopt, etc.  I would recommend speaking with an agency.  You could start some of the initial paperwork now but I would wait to do the home study until you are closer to a decision because they are typically only valid for a year - and our's was $1200.  Once they expire, you have to have another one done, so to save money, I would suggest not doing it very early.

    Good luck.
