  1. OK folks, we need a little clarification here.

IF you are talking about repairing the others persons car, you do NOT pay a deductible of any kind. The liability portion of your personal automobile policy does not have a deductible. Your company will pay 100% of the claim to the other person with no money out of your pocket.

IF you are talking about the repairs to your car then your collision deductible.will apply. You would need to pay the deductible to the repair shop before you can pick up your car after the repairs are completed.

As far as your rates, I would suggest asking your local agent. They will be the only ones who can give you a definitive answer.

    Good Luck,

  2. you pay the deductable to the garage when they have completed the repairs on your car. as for your premium next year, it will increase but not a grate deal. bear in mind no insurer will be able to tell you exactly how much as this will be on top of general rate increases. i work for a claims dept in the uk, if you have had 8 yrs claim free insurance, you will have built up a no claims discount of approx 60% on your premium. this will now be reducted to 50% the equivilent to 3yrs no claims discount. unless you had protected no claims which allows you to make 2 claims in a 3 yr period before the no claims discount is effected. you could get a quote from an insurance company based on this at todays rates declaring the claim, this will give you a rough idea on how much your premium will go up, but bear in mind, insurers can usually only guarantee these quotes for 30 days. hope this helps.

  3. Yes, you pay the deductible and your rates will go up a little if it's a first time claim.  One more and they will sky rocket.

  4. Never had that happen but you will be required to pay the deductible by billing if you wish it to be that way. Check with your agent but in some cases the deductible can be fixed into your monthly payments. Read your policy. It should explain this to you.

  5. The deductible only applies to damage to your own car.

Your insurance company pays everything for any damage done to the other vehicle. I have been adjusting auto claims for 40 years.

  6. you pay the first 500 or 1000 dollars depending on what your deductible is. You will probably pay this to the auto body shop when the people get their bill. The insurance company pays the rest. Ask your insurance company if they have accident forgiveness. most of the time  if its the first accident they will let you slide., especially if its something like an accident in a parking lot. Best thing to do is call your insurance companies 800 number as soon as possible and let them know.
