My wife disabled the lan on her laptop when she got a virus

now the laptop has no lan icon on the screen,it doesn't even look for a connection.It was a dialer DIAL-HQCB virus or adware and we can't do anything till we can get her back on-line.I go to network and it does not show our network.I need to be able to enable lan again how do i do that?is there anyway to check and see if her lan is still working?would it do any good to click set up a new network the desktop is still working on the old one and we know the password?help,Thanks I can't remove the adware until I can get online as it damaged the webroot and needs reinstalled which requires being online???

  1. Open your network connections and right click the Local Area Connection (LAN) and select enable.

    The lan is usually the yellow lead going into the back of the computer and is not wireless, so in effect you can "see" your network because there is only one.


  2. Click Tools -Internet Options-Connections-Lan Settings -Automatically Select.Or go to control panel for Internet Options if your not using I/E.

  3. try right clicking on "my computer" and selecting properties, click on the hardware tab then select "device manager" look under "network adapters" you should see one disabled, double click on it and using the drop down box select enable this device.
