My wife is a Govt.Teacher (Karnataka). Is she eligible to claim reimbursement of Pregnency operation expense?

She has a female baby in Jan -08 having cezerion operation by spending Rs.15000/-. is she able to claim these pregency medical expenses? If yes, please tell me the procedure to be followed to get the reimbursement from Karnataka Govt. Education Department.

The Government of India gives incentives for family planning only.

I doubt if the government of Karnataka encourages child births.

Reimbursement of medical expenses is done only when the individual is covered under such a scheme.

Is your wife covered under any such policy - individual, group - either on her own accord or one made mandatory by the Government ?

Have a look at her salary slip. If there are any deductions under a state health scheme or insurance scheme. Better get in touch with the authorities of the school in which she is working. They will be able to provide you with the most authentic information and guidance.
