My wife is going to apply for F2 visa in July first week'08. I have few questions regarding that, Would be very helpful if someone can give me right suggestion

Q1) My I-20 expires in December, so is it fine if she applies for F2 in july?

Q2) I got married to her in Dec07 officially when I visited India but didn't have reception or traditional marriage just court marriage, so it is fine if I don't have pictures of marriage? But she did change her name on passport( she has new passport with my name as middle name)

Q3)My father and her father in law is sponsor, so it is fine if she shows my fathers funds?

Please put some light on above questions

Thank you.

  1. Well, first off, she needs to be added to your I-20 before she can even apply. Plus your school will need to have registered her in SEVIS. Until those things happen, she can't be considered for the F2. The facts that you list here won't make things easier, and if in the opinion of the interviewing officer, they don't believe she'll return, then she'll be denied the visa. They may also find it curious that you didn't apply immediately to have her get the visa, which would be easier to understand for newlyweds but instead you had the patience to wait for 6 months. So, it's hard to predict her chances to actually get the visa. As for your father being willing to help sponsor her through his own finances, that itself is no particular problem.
