My wife is leaving town for 4 days and leaving me with the kids?

What should I do to keep entertained while she's gone.

Always do age appropriate things with your kids.  This could be a time for Dad and kids bonding.  Be sure to call upon relatives, neighbors, etc. for help should things get out of hand, for what ever reason.  Utilize your older kids to help with the younger siblings.  This will help your older kids connect with the younger ones in positive ways.  

Have a positively warm attitude the whole time you are with your kids, it WILL spill over to them, and make your time together more enjoyable.  

Take this time to be aware and appreciate all that your wife does.  Be ready to bless her when she comes back home to you, cause what you put out to her will come back to you, positive or negative.  Share your positve feelings with her, and she will make your day ...  I'm hoping for you!

Games. Take them outside to play.

Teach them some new things. Take them to the park, a movie or some place fun. Above all teach them something new. Read to them, ask them questions about school, friends, etc. This is the time to bond and get to know them.

You could go to state parks, the zoo, cook with them, go to a toy store and let them pick out one toy each(within reason), etc. all of these will keep them busy for hours. Good luck!!

Ok, so this is what you must do when she leaves: pack up your bags and pretend you are leaving to go somewhere too.  Tell them goodbye and then go over to the neighbor’s house where you have a mascot suit waiting for you there.  (Barney would probably be the best.)  Then come inside in the Barney outfit and say, “Hey, kids!  I’m your new babysitter for the next few days!”  They will go crazy.  This way, you can avoid all parental responsibilities for the next few days and let them get away with c**p because they’ll have no idea it’s really you, plus your wife won’t be around to enforce anything!!!  It’s win-win.   But you can’t get out of the suit even for a second.  You have to make them think you are the real thing.  You must remain true to the character of Barney.  Hold strong to the Barney image and way of life.  You can do it!!!!

Try and keep a schedule.  As for what to do with them, how old are they?  Any museums and nice parks in the area?
