My wife is taking our daughters to mexico on vacation. What documents, besides passports are required?

Wife and I are married, both children have passports. I can't come due to work. I've heard a notarized letter of consent may be required for the children to travel without me. Where can I get a copy of a notarized letter?

Yes, your wife needs tocarry a short letter written by you giving her permission to take the children out of the U.S. and into Mexico.  it must be signed and notarized.  This is Mexican law. She may or may not be asked for the letter.  Nothing fancy...just a couple of  paragraps.  See sitebelow nd read section on MINORS under ENTRY REQUIREMENTS.  It is really good to get 2 notarized originals and they soud be carried in different places in the luggage...just in case one is lost.

Just a simple letter stating that you are the father and give her permission to travel with the children, and give her permission to make medical or life and death decisions on your behalf.  My travel agent gave me one to use, it was just a few sentences.  We had it notarized at our bank for free.  But, after all that, I was never asked for it.  (I took my daughters for 4 days this past Feb.)
