  1. Vancouver is the most expensive city in Canada, the average home price is in the 500Ks and climbing. it is a beautiful city though...

Consider the Maritimes as well (NB, NS). Nurses are in demand EVERYWHERE and your wife will make a good wage here with a MUCH lower cost of living (avg home price in the 125-150k range for example). RNs here typically start at about $25-30/hr here in NB.

Tourism might be a little harder to find work, in the Maritimes you could live off her salary alone if need be (60k/yr is more than enough)

  2. Be sure your degrees are ok first  the Olympics are comming lots of work now..

  3. It depends on your budget. Vancouver is a very expensive city to live in, and Calgary is becoming expensive as well. Toronto, of course, is also expensive. Montreal, on the other hand, has a relatively lower cost of living than the other major Canadian cities. There are nursing shortages across the country, so your wife should not have trouble finding work, and certainly RNs get paid reasonably well. I don't know much about the tourism industry, but if you're a travel agent for example, you can work pretty much anywhere. Good luck.

  4. Given your respective occupations, Vancouver would be an excellent choice. Nurses, as you may know, are in great demand just about everywhere. Vancouver is pretty big on tourism. Aside from that, I live in BC and like it best of all. The climate is good, scenery is fabulous, there's lots of outdoor stuff to do. Vancouver is an expensive city for housing but with two incomes you should manage just fine, and of course if you are happy with living outside of central Vancouver or in a smaller city or town, it's cheaper there. Consider Vancouver Island too.

  5. Vancouver would be a good choice.  BC needs nurses very badly and tourism industry is very big in Vancouver.

  6. Victoria might suit your needs as well.  It's slightly less expensive than Vancouver and has all the amenities, plus a little better climate.
