We have visited all 3 and would rank them 1) HK 2) Singapore 3 )KL in terms of where we really want to live. Have you lived there? Have you visited there? What industry do you work in? Is it difficult for Americans to get jobs in those cities? What would be the best industry to work in, in order to live in one of those cities? Thanks!

  1. I would say Hong Kong since Hong Kong is proximity to China so many companies have offices and regional headquarters there, so that will end up having more job opportunities. Plus, you can get to Mainland China easily when you get a Hong Kong ID card after living in Hong Kong for 7 years. Education in Hong Kong is top notch since they are moving towards e-books which uses laptop and such with the teacher in front to point out things on the computer. Plus, they have many international schools there. Their public transportation is among the best in the world, even MTR, the city's subway operator, is the consultant for many countries' future subway projects. Hong Kong has a cool winter and hot summer compared to Singapore with hot and humid all year long. Although pollution is a major problem for Hong Kong, but they are working with the Guangdong province which is the neighboring province of Hong Kong to reduce pollution of 20% by 2010, plus, they are using some of the top technology bus Euro IV standard which is the most environmental bus on the road so I'm sure pollution will soon not a problem for foreigners looking to go to Hong Kong. Plus, their closer cooperation with China will make Hong Kong truly an international financial center for China and rest of Asia. There are always at least one foreign company every month that opens an regional office or regional headquarter in Hong Kong, so you can see the Hong Kong's importance to these companies' mind. You don't have to worry about after 2047 since China promises autonomous at least 2047, there has been news that China may expand its autonomous well beyond 2047, plus, Hong Kong is one of the safest city in the world, so no need to worry about terrorist attack.

  2. Ya, i think Hong Kong would be the best place if you want somewhere close to the America's, because it s very advanced, more so than the US

  3. Singapore. It's a clean country, and there are many expats just like yourself settling down here. If you have kids, dont worry about sending them to public schools, they'll do just fine bcoz our 1st language here is English. Everyone speaks decent english here, sometimes Singlish (our own local lingo-slang), which isn't very hard to understand once you understand some of the meanings.

Other than that, it's safe, you can walk alone in some dark alley at night and you wont be harmed. Crime rates are pretty low around here.

    So you might wanna consider.

  4. Hong Kong, it is a food and shopping paradise!

  5. FYI. Singapore was voted the best place for expats.

  6. HK is the best definately. no matter on living standard, environment, $$, food, transport....etc. one thing SGP is better than us = air freshly. as if u hv been there b4, u wil c the SGP government planted tons of trees all over the city. HK is close to the border of China so their factory did bring air pollution to us a bit. depends on the direction of wind. K.L. is definately at the last position. but e'thing is cheaper there......depends on how much u wil bring there. HK is a multi-national city so no worry abt language here. finding a job...mmmm.... depends on ur experience. many of my frds r westerners coming fr all over the world..... many int'l co. hire their employees worldwide. such as adidas, warner bros, LVMH.... bla bla bla.
