  1. I'm pretty sure that if you need an update, then a message will pop up and say to update it.

  2. im pretty sure u need to update. the only way i no to update is reconnecting to the internet. after that a message pops up saying, "would you like to perform a wii system update?" and say yes. it takes a while when its updating, but it will tell you if its already updated to the most recent stuff.

  3. i think you need an update. why dont you check. maybe you do maybe you dont there is only one way to find. check.

  4. You only need the update if there is a game that requires it before play. So newer games will check the system automatically for you before you play them for the first time. Otherwise, there really is not an imminent reason for you to update.

You can manually check for updates by going to your Wii system menu and selecting to check for updates from one of the options there.

The current firmware version is 3.3U (so yes, your Wii is technically out of date.

  5. When you turn your Wii on you'll have a message from Nintendo saying a new update is out and telling you how to update your system, unless there are no new updates available. To check for a update go the the wii settings then scroll across to update and check for updates using this, if a update is available then it will download and update your Wii.

  6. 2.0 was the very first firmware version update all the way back in November, 2006, you can see a list of all the versions' information here:

I'd recommend updating, by going through the Settings (provided you have established an internet connection with your Wii). There are quite a lot of enhancements and bug fixes since version 2.0. Also, if you want to use the Shop Channel at all, you'll have to update, they've added a few required upgrades since the initial firmware.

If you don't have a means to update, you'll be able to play all disc games just fine, if a new game requires an update, there will be the needed software on the disc and a prompt will come up when you start the game.to install.
