Just use its fan instead. At low temperatures any A/C tends to ice up and not work. Go for the fan to get cool exterior air into your room. It is healthier and cheaper.

Maybe if you set up a heater in front of it to heat up the thermostat,it just might work then.

Doesn't. You don't need it in cool weather anyway, so turn it off and save some money. It's probably icing up internally.
