My windows Xp wont standby by.

Question

I have a Compaq presario V4000 and it dose not have a standby or hibernate option. I had to reinstall Windows XP and all the factory drivers but normally when i close the lid it goes to standby but now it doesn't. When i go to,

CONTROL PANEL>APPEARANCE AND THEMES>CHOOSE A SCREEN SAVER>POWER>ADVANCED

It has a option "When i close the lid of my portable computer" it normally has three options 1.do nothing 2.standby 3.hibernate and now it only says do nothing. I don't care about hibernate but i do want it to standby. Can anyone help me get my computer to standby?
