Question:

My windows seem to be too narrow to hold an ac unit..are there smaller units than the standard?

My bedroom window is 14" wide, the smallest unit I have found is 14.5" I don't want a portable unit, are there other options?

  1. Is the window wood? Like could you carve or cut a quarter inch from each side?


  2. look for a casement window airconditioner. They are made  to fit in narrow windows.

  3. My mom has the same problem and found a unit at sears I think. It's taller than wide.  I believe it cost about twice as much as a regular unit

Oh, that's a nasty situation.  But don't give up hope.  If you can get some of those spring coil ducts, one for inflow and one for out, you can set an air conditioner up.  Duct tape is great for this, as is corrugated cardboard and plastic foam of all sorts.  Go for it.  Get a giant cat litter pan for the condensate, though.
