I have ultimate troubles with my wireless adapter. My D-Link DWL-G120 disconnects every five minutes or so, and when it does, I cannot connect to any network. It shows the networks, it just doesn't connect, so I have to unplug and plug it back in. Can anyone help me stop this?

  1. Wi-fi signal loss is really common. Wireless signals often drop out due to interfering signals. It happens when someone within range uses their microwave. Or, if someone in range uses their cordless phone (cordless not cell). This includes your neighbors if they are within a few hundred feet. It is dropping in and out whenever somebody is using these items, but you are only noticing it on pages that have videos and music which take a long time to load. Moving your router may help, but probably won't help much. I'm five feet from mine and whenever my neighbor uses her cordless phone it still drops out.

In your case by the time you get done clicking around and restarting it, the interference is gone. You can go into your router settings through your browser and change the channel of your connection. Usually you want to stay off of 1,6, and 11. They are the most used.

  2. I had this issue over the last week, a few days ago my adsl modem died. Seems the power kept getting lost to it.

Have you another modem you can try?
