I have a router from DLink connected to my desktop with ethernet cable, passing through my Modem. I also have a wireless connection to my laptop which works perfectly. But, somehow, in the past few days, my wired connection has not been working. I have checked Device Manager to see if my Networks are fine, and they are. But why is this problem happening. I am not able to isolate the problem. It can't be a hardware problem because my wireless internet seems to be working. I also checked Command prompt. I typed in "ping www.yahoo.com" and it sent and received all 4 packets. This tells me that there is a stable connection it is just not being recognized for some reason. Plus also I am using Internet Explorer 7. So if you can please help me out, or give any suggestions. please do so.

  1. just go to the store and ask for help

  2. This tells you you need to do a MAC address clone.  You can call D-link and they will walk you through it.  If you can figure it out on your own, here is how: Go to Start, Run (skip if using Vista), type cmd, press enter.  Now type the command ipconfig /all  Your physical address of your network card that is being used for Internet is the MAC address you want to clone.  Now access the router's interface and clone that address.

  3. are you using vista?, cause it could be that try downloading firefox its another web browser that may help

  4. odd problem.

    1. drop IE 7 and get firefox. just came out with firefox 3 which is very easy to use and extremely secure.

    2. try plugging the ethernet cable into different ports on your router or if all else fails, try buying a new network card for your desktop. go to a computer store and ask them for advice if nothing seems to work.
