My work keeps hiring, but it appears that its slow and should be considering layoffs.?

Why would they keep hiring it makes no sense. it always gets much slower in the winter. I just don't see how they are going to keep everyone

Well, maybe they know something you don't know about what's going to happen this winter.

Or maybe, it's really busy right now and these new hires are just temporary employees.

If you've got in more time then them, you shouldn't need to be concerned about your job unless you're being a good Christian and trying to look out for your brother.

My employer gets extremely slow in the winter also. Chances are when winter comes your employer might do what mine has done in the past...cut the number of working hours for certain positions/departments and put a company-wide stop on all overtime (not allowed for any reason until further notice). If that doesn't relieve the strain to a more manageable level, then they start laying people off.
