make sure the av cable is connected properly and make sure its not on HD setting

I had the same problem. Somethings wrong with the hardware in your unit, but its not giving you the three red lights of death. This means that you need to call xbox support and hope that your unit is still under the 1 year warranty. You won't get the extended 3 year warranty unless it has the three red lights. Mine wasn't underwarranty so i had to buy a new one. Sorry for the bad news.

make sure the video (yellow) plug is plugged in to your t.v.

Double-check your cord connections on your TV and your xbox.  Then, make sure the right setting is on (TV/HDTV) on the switch on the back.

Also, make sure you're on the right video input channel on your TV.

If that fails, check microsoft.com for the video reset guide.
