My xbox 360 is freezing?

Hi.

I have had my xbox 360 core console since christmas 2007.

I keep it reasonably ventellated but not too good. My power brick is in the open and NOT on carpet. And the power plug is in the wall, not a brick supply.

Okay so now to the point, it has froze on me 3 times in total, once while playing GTAIV, once while playing COD4 online and another while playing assassins creed on the 2nd level.

Like i said in the above, I do take good care of it so I don't know why it is doing this.

PLEASE HELP ME.

oh, and as a side question, does typing the XXYY something something code in, then hitting 'system management update' really fix the freezing? Some say it fixes some say it doesn't.

  2. Stop playing for a week, and it should be fixed. That is what happened to mine but it healed itself.

  3. I'd say overplaying it is the problem, although idk how much you play it daily. Is the room you play it in above average temperature? That may be a reason.

  4. 1. If you system is laying try standing it, if it's standing try laying it

    2. Try deleting some system cache by going to the "System" menu and select the "Memory" option. Highlight the hard drive, then press Y. The Device Options screen for the hard drive will appear, with "Rename" and "Format" options. Press X(2), LB(2), X(2) to clear the cache. Alternately, enter the "System" menu and select the "Memory" option. Press Y for device options, then press either LB, RB, X(2), LB(2), X(2) or X(2), LB, RB, X(2), LB, RB. You will get a message stating that the system is performing maintenance.

    3. Also try unplugging your HDD and replugging it

That's all i can tell you man

  5. Sometimes using that 'xxyy' code does work. It clears the hard drive's cache.

To do so, first you need to be signed out of your profile/gamer tag.

Then go to the System Blade in the dashboard.

    Then go to Memory.

Highlight the hard drive and press "Y."

Then press: X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X

When it tells you if you wish to perform maintenance on your hard drive, press Yes.

When that is all done, sign back in and try out your games. If no more freezing occurs, then the problem is solved. If not, it might be the games that are scratched, the laser in the xbox may be weakened, or even your GPU is toasted a little.
