Question:

My xbox 360 is not powering up, 2 solid red lights?

My xbox 360 is not powering up. It shows 2 solid red lights when I first plug it in without turning it on. After turning it on it shows those two lights and has no audio or video. I was told by someone that it could be overheating but it's not overheating because the 2 lights are not blinking and I have had my xbox off for 2 days and the same thing still happens. They are the two red lights on the left when the system is laying flat. Does anyone know what those errors mean? Any easy fixes? Any help would be greatly appreciated because this system is out of warranty and I don't want to have to buy another one. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. take it back you got a defected one

  2. Sorry dude it's going bad. The same thing is happening to mine. All red flashing means the cords aren't plugged in. One flashing means it overheated. Two flashing means hard drive failure. Three flashing means internal hard drive failure. I can't give you an easy fix. Check Xbox.com and see if they have anything. By the way keep a lookout for three solid rings, AKA the Red Ring of Death.

  3. that does not sound good. im not sure either...but it looks bad.

    could be somthing simple though

  4. The red lights usually mean that it's overheating.  Buy an internal cooling thing, or try placing it right side up.  If this doesn't work, bring it back to wherever you got it cus they sold you a broken xbox.

  5. tHESE MAYBE THE INFAMOUS "RINGS OF DEATH".CONTACT XBOX  BECAUSE IF IT IS YOUR SYSTEM IS SHOT

  6. I'm not completely sure

    give me ya'lls opinion

  7. Early batch of x360 has an overheating problem, it doesn't crash your console, but it causes solder points to crack over time. Eventually, your xbox CPU or GPU stop working. Its a well known problem, and as far as i know, microsoft should cover it under warranty

contact them or your local dealer, whatever means to claim warranty, they should send you an empty package for you to ship your xbox back to them, and it will be replace

newer xbox3 comes with a new batch of CPU (smaller transistors) which generate less heat and you should not have the same problem again.

  8. You got the red ring of death. If Over heating is the problem, them go to game stop or your local game store and buy an Xbox 360 cooler.

  9. It means its overheating :/

Overheating can be cause by the console locking up or "freezing" after a set amount of time. Lockups that occur at a specific point in a  game are generally problems with the game itself and not caused by overheating.

    THINGS TO TRY

       1. Let the Xbox 360 console cool.

Note You may have to wait several hours for the console to cool enough. Do not turn on the console when the console is hot.

       2. Verify that the console has sufficient ventilation and that the fan is operating. For more information about ventilation, see the "More Information" section.

    PREVENTION SUGGESTIONS

To try to prevent this problem, use the following precautions:

        * Do not block any ventilation openings on the Xbox 360 console.

        * Do not put the Xbox 360 console on a bed, on a sofa, or on any other soft surface that may block ventilation openings.

        * Do not put the Xbox 360 console in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well-ventilated.

        * Do not put the Xbox 360 console near any heat source, such as a radiator, a heat register, a stove, or an amplifier.

DO NOT EVER PUT YOUR CONSOLE IN THE FREEZER OR OUT IN COLD WEATHER

Some people think that doing this might help "fix" an overheating console, in fact doing so could cause even bigger problems. Electronic devices like your console are made to function at and around room temperature, extreme cold temperatures can often cause just as many problems as extreme warm temperatures (such as overheating). Also if the console is located in a dramatically cold area while running, the difference in temperature between the hot console and cold air can create condensation which in turn will short out your console making the situation far worse. Condensation will happen more quickly if your console is overheating due to the greater difference in temperature. In short... DON'T DO IT.

A more agressive Solution to overheating is to improve the cooling system of the console. The best solution is to replace the thermal compound. If you attempt this you do so at your own risk. If you're console is still underwaranty it is recomended that you contact MS for a replacement before attempting to fix it yourself.

  10. my boyfriend has an xbox 360 console too, he also complained that its not working anymore.  he had it fixed, payed quite a big amount, then after a month it wasn't working anymore.  he said that the first few batch of xbox that were released were really defective he had read it in the internet..so frustrating..

  11. YOU'VE ASKED THIS QUESTION THREE TIMES ALREADY. GIVE IT A BREAK.

  12. You'll have phone up microsoft. this is very common fault with 360's. or you can do this thing on ebay were you swap your 360 for another one but you have to pay around £40.00
