My xbox can not fine my wireless router?

my xbox can not fine my wireless router now that i have hooked up my laptop anyone know what i can do to fix it

Maybe your router uses security that the Xbox cannot understand.

Your laptop may be taking an IP address that was assigned to your XBox. Turn off your laptop- not just stand-by, shut it down completely. Also turn off your XBox and power-cycle your router.  When your router 's lights are steady, turn on your XBox and connect online. Once that connection is made, turn on your laptop - do this while the XBox is online! You want the laptop to find a different IP, and as long as you haven't assigned the IP address, it will, thus preventing you from having to do this everytime.
