My xbox360 wont pick up an IP?

Question

i have my xbox running through a wireless range extender - sitcom. I have that set up correctly as i can access the internet via my laptop through the extender. But my Xbox360 wont pick up an ip through it... i just want to know if my xbox live account has expired will it not give me an IP at all? I thought it would still give me one but it would ask for a reedeem code or something silmilar?

any ideas would be good.. cheers

You will definitely get an ip even if your live is no longer valid. I would try power cycling your adapter and your wireless router. Router first, then modem, and maybe it will issue an IP. If that fails try logging into your router and seeing if there is a button saying "IP release" and "IP renew".
