My yahoo messenger is not singing on, why?

yahoo messenger is not signing on, he seems to be sleeping,blue in color, my icon at bottom is gone and i have redownloaded messenger many times has not fixed problem. I see the meesenger page as it is signing in and it will sometimes be yellow and smiling and just says singing in as missylc88 and goes no further,what do i do to fix this?

check your internet connection (proxy servers), and preferences in yahoo messenger if they are compatible.

try going to www17.meebo.com, if you can log on to a webbased Yahoo messenger, but other features of yahoo will not work (voice)
