  1. Check your impeller (under the jetski) and make sure it is not clogged.  Sounds like you may have gotten some vegetation, or even a rope, stuck in the intake grate and around the impeller causing it to bog down. This may also be clogging the water intake causing the overheating.

One of my clients called me in a panic because the jetski he was borrowing wouldn't go anymore.  Turns our someone's mooring line came untied and the impeller picked it up and wrapped it around tight.

You will need to get it on land and tilt it on it's side to check these.  The intake grate and impeller are near the center of the craft, and the fresh water intake should be toward the rear near the jet assembly.

Make sure the lanyard is out and the battery is disconnected before working in the impeller area to be safe!!

    Hope this helps!

  2. There is no water pump.  Cooling water is taken off a tangental line from the jet pump housing.  A rock could get in the line and clog it, which would make it overheat, but not bog.

Bogging indicates a fuel issue, most likely.  If you can partially pull the choke, does it run better?  If so, you're running lean, indicating a clogged fuel filter, or possibly a dirty main jet in the carb.  It could also be a fuel pump problem, but doubtful.  Try driving with the choke pulled and see what happens.  It COULD be a rope in the pump, so check that too.  If you have run it for a long time with it overheating, then you likely wasted the rings and have low compression, which is bad.  Re-post and give an update.

  3. get someone to check it out before it burns up. If the water pump is working it shouldn't be running hot. There is a stream of water that you can see if it is working. It will be coming out of the back or side of the motor.  You will save a tremendous amount of cash if you get it fixed before the motor burns up.
