The outer perimeter of my yard is completely infested with sumac trees. They spread and grow quicky. Is there anything I can plant that will help choke out new trees?

I've heard bamboo is like this. Could I possibly plant bamboo to "take over?" Or, anything else?

  1. DON"T plant bamboo...it's WORSE!!!!.... set up a border of no plants and keep after the new sprouts from the sumac....keep cutting the sumac's back and they'll die back eventually.... don't let them seed!!!.... cut off the ends of the branches when you see flowers on them!!.... those that you cut down, use some brush killer on the stumps to help kill the roots..... if you notice alongside the roadways, sumac grows thru anything.... so you have to beat the sumac itself.....
