  2. Most likely it will put out some more flowers.  If you cut flowering perennials back after bloom but BEFORE seed set, they will usually bloom again.  Their biological imperative is to make seeds and it will try again.

    I cut my yarrow frequently for additional blooming and some new leaves as it starts to look ratty as soon as the flowers begin to fade.  I cut it back severely -- almost down to the ground.  Leave some foliage for the plant to live on while it figures out it has to grow some more.
