My yearling?

Just for fun, here are a couple pictures of my yearling, what do ya think? He is near 14.1hh, and his mane & tail is starting to grow in flaxen (note these pictures are over a month old), and I talked to some people who said his color could change up til 2, but I like the flaxen mane and tail idea =[

Was going to sell him but his personality and attitude are to die for, and he has great confirmation. He is an absolute love, even when his buddies don't want to come he nickers and comes running when i call him. He self-loads, lunges, clips, leads, ponies on trail rides, and we have set a saddle on his back, he didn't mind it at all.

What does everyone else think?

  1. he is so cute i think he will stay that same color but the mane and tail are not flaxe in those pic's

  2. What a nice baby for you to raise.  As far as his mane and tail turning flaxen, he is at the age that many of the babies that I raise from my stallion start to get a flaxen mane and tail.  It will probably progress a year or so.  That is what mine usually do.  My stallion was born with a totally sorrel mane and tail and now has a flaxen/mixed M&T, and he seems to pass it on to his offspring.  I don't think he will be a big horse from his size now.  As far as selling him that is a hard thing for anyone to direct you in.  If you can use him, and can afford to keep him and see to his feed and other needs, and you really like him, keep him.  You don't mention if he is gelded or not, but if not that is definately something that needs to be done soon.  His attitude will definately change soon.  If he is pastured with other horses, it can be a dangerous place for him and you and any other horses or people involved.

  3. All i can say is that he is PERFECT and i am soooooooo jealous!!!

  4. he does have nice conformation, and a cute head. he looks a little like he is lacking muscle tone in his chest and hindquarters, but I think thats the camera angle in the first pic, in the other two he looks great. but for a 1yr old he sounds amazing!

  5. omg so cute

  6. I think he looks really cute and grown up. He looks like hes going to be a kind of short horse because of his legs. Im not exactly sure because we breed Friesians.

  7. cute

    thats not flaxen though

  8. he is gorgous bless him.

so young but so good looking.

    aww. hes lovely

  9. Cant tell anything from your crappy pictures. If that horse is 14.1,  you must be over 6'.

  10. he's cute, and my goodness, a saddle on a less than 1 year old? you've got yourself a good horse. :]

  11. Very cute, you are a lucky one. Awesome confirmation. As far as color goes, some horses will continue to change color their whole lives. My friend's horses was a pretty dark flee bitten grey, almost black, all the way up till she was about 14, now, she is 18 and almost completely white!

Good luck with him... Looks like he will be a great horse. =]
