Question:

My yorkie was attacked and injured?

The vet said she bruised her eye, but since then has a sporadic loss of balance, bowel, and seems to have no energy. The vet said it may be due to trauma, but I don't want to lose my pet. She's only a year and a half. The white part of the eye is still pretty red, but the loss of equilibrium is my main concern. My poor little yorkie just isn't the same, and it's been 4 days. She will let me touch her anywhere but the eye, but is there a deeper issue here? Is the eye causing this or something else? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!! My baby will appreciate it, and so will I.

  1. Call your vet clinic , when it opens & speak to the vet with your concerns.

  2. The loss of equilibrium and bowels could be a sign of neurological problems. I think there is a very deep issue here.

Take her to another veterinarian for a  second opinion.

    I hope she gets better.

  3. In my opinion she should have been put on IVs for at least 24 hrs, because of the trauma, and her size, and I bet she is not eating.  Try giving her Gatorade....will help  restore her electrolytes, and  they will always eat a hot dog....get the cheap ones and cut them in very small pieces, hand feed her if necessary.  And keep her warm.  I know it's  hot out, but if you have a heat pad, put it in her bed,  UNDER  her sleeping pad. Just baby her as much as possible.  Did he give her anything for pain.  If not call him and ask  what can you give, we used to give our old dog  Ibuprofen, but she was 65 lbs  I wouldn't know what to give her.  I guess if she were mine, I would get some baby aspirins  and give her 1/4  2x a day.

  4. Would you say she's had some improvement or do you think it's getting worse?  I'd say take her back in, if you haven't seen any improvement...all they can tell you is nope she's fine, don't worry.  Better safe than sorry.

    Good luck.

  5. Take her to a different vet for a second opinon.
