I don't think he should be. I started sitting there with my dad when I turned 12. H elet me a little when I was 11 1/2 on 5 minute trips but 30 minutes or even more when I was 12. My mom started letting me when I was 12 1/2 and long trips when I was 13. Well, when my brother was 11, we went to Portillo's while my sister had a party. Since, i am 14, I usually sit in the front. We decided to trick my dad and get to the car first while he was talking. I had my brother in the front to see if we could fool him. He told my brother he could stay there if he wants. So he did but it was only 20 minutes My mom is a little on the safe side but my brother asked her. She said no, he wasn't 12. He kept asking and finally, she said he was almost 12 so she would let him for the ride there. I was outside and I saw this. On the way back, he was in the back. But i noticed on more and more car rides, he was in the front. These are all short ones but still. He went to a Bulls game with my mom and he asked.

  1. WHEN YOU ARE 8, 9, 10, 11, OR 12 MORE THAN 4’9” (57 INCHES) TALL MAY USE AN ADULT SEATBELT, BUT MUST KEEP YOUR BACK AGAINST THE SEAT BACK, YOUR KNEES BENT OVER THE EDGE OF THE SEAT, AND YOUR FEET FLAT ON THE FLOOR IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR.

WHEN YOU ARE MORE THAN 12 YEARS OLD MORE THAN 4’9” (57 INCHES) TALL MAY SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THE CAR WITH AN ADULT SEATBELT.

  2. In a car with airbags it should have a sun visor that tells how old you must be to ride in the front seat.

  3. No difference between 11 and 12 as far as the body goes, so he should be able to.

  4. Age doesn't really matter.  Its just height and weight that do.

  5. I had the same issue with my brothers and still do. My 11 year old brother has been sitting in the front for two years. I think parents must be less strict with younger children because all my younger siblings are way more spoiled than me, and I'm the only girl! I don't think there's anything you can do. Your parents would take it as jealousy if you tried to talk to them.

  6. Talk about sibling rivalry.

  7. sitting in front has more to do with height and weight than age.   my friends son was 5 ft tall and over 100 lbs at 11 so he was allowed in the front.  Size is more important than age because of the fit of the seat belts and where the airbag would hit when deployed.  Is your brother taller and heavier than you were at that age.  Your parents may be getting tired of arguing and are not thinking clearly.
