  1. All children develop at different stages , take him to his doctor it will help you from being worried.

  2. I am very surprised you have not thought about it before!  At his age, he should be able to stand.

  3. You need to talk to your pediatrician if you have one and if not you may want to find one. Our ped for our kids has no problem going the extra mile when we have concerns. Good luck

  4. wow....what a mess.  good luck.

  5. go see his pediatrician

  6. If he dosen't stand completely, completely; yes you should take him to his doctor. I wounder how come his Dr. did not notice that; because he should examine him long time ago for that. I wish you and your son the best.

  7. My son crawled the same way - on his tummy. Let me tell you the kid could get from point A to point B in a flash. He was nearly two years old before he crawled like the other younger babies and then boom he was standing and walking. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong.

  8. hey.

no dont worry about it. all babies are different. also, if the babies parents, you and your wife, walked at a later age, he will too. its also based on hereditary.

also, some babies, who aren't great crawlers, may even walk earlier than the ones who do. just because your baby isnt walking as early as your other son, doesn't mean there will be development delays. Anyways, I've included a great article about it. Please, do take the time to read it!

"The one thing that you do not want to do is pressure your child to practice walking several times a day. It is important that you allow your child to learn to walk all on their own. Another suggestion is to get rid of the playpen. A baby who is constantly confined to the playpen where they are not able to maneuver around very freely will not be able to develop the confidence in standing or walking. Putting your baby in a walker will give them a large amount of time being independent and building up their leg strength. "

  9. i would go to a doctor and consult about early intervention programs in your area, unlike the previous poster it is not ok for a child to not walk or even crawl until age 2! that's insane! please get him a check up.

  10. By 12 mths he should be able to stand on his own. Walking might take longer, but there are certain precautions to take into consideration. BoSox27 is right. When he crawls he should be using his legs, even if it is only being on his knees. He should get a physical evaluation right away, and maybe even get rehab. Talk to a pediatrician and maybe get a referal for a specialist.

  11. Yes I would have him checked. That is rather late not to be trying to walk or walking already. It will ease your mind as well. The sooner you do this the sooner you can help him.

  12. Some children don't do those things till they are 2 years. Some do them really early. He may do it all at once. It is always good to see his pediatrician for assistance in this area to rule out that anything is wrong.

  13. The part that would worry me is that he crawls in his chest.  Is he able to push up to a traditional (all fours) crawling position?  Can he pull to a standing position by holding onto a table or the edge of a sofa?  If so, I wouldn't be all that concerned.  Still, it's worth having your son checked out, just to be safe.  Often, if a delay is caught early, the child can catch up to his peers.  I would bring your son in for an evaluation ASAP, if only to put your mind at ease.  Good luck, and I hope all is well with your little boy.

  14. while it is not uncommon for babies to hit there milestones alittle later , i would have him check out just in case . there could be something wrong with the muscles in his legs . just to give yourself peace of mind have him checked .

  15. Children develop at different ages and at different things...also the more he crawls the more likely he will stay crawling for longer..I wouldn't worry too much at the moment, give him another couple of months and see what happens, if there is no sign of him changing then I would see what the dr had to say..he may say he's just a slow developer in walking which is fine..also they do say boys are lazier than girls..but I don't know if I would agree with that because both my sons wer walking around the furniture holding on at 6 months old, and one walked unaided at 9 months the other 10 months....I'm sure everything is fine with your son..... good luck!

  16. my cousin started to walk at 10 months, me at 16 months, my brother the day after his first birthday, and my other cousin at age two, and we are all perfectly fine, give him until 2years before you see anyone about it. His feet just need to get used to the feel of walking. Just hold him up, and get him to slowly start walking while you hold him, and then after a little while, start letting him put a little more of his weight down, when he can stand up straight on his own, put cushion around him, and start motivating him from a Small distance to come to you. Don't worry, he is fine.

  17. If you are concerned, see the Pediatrician. Don't take anything for granted. There may be another need like hearing problems. This can throw off the balance and make him not want to try, especially if he is longsighted.

  18. Hey, for me..don't worry bout it.. some children starts walking quite late.  And the crawls part, well my son did that too when he was still 1 yr old.  For me, they will start walking when they're ready.  DontDon'try.  Just monitor his development but then again if it really worries you, better see his doctor.  All the best.:)

  19. Yes you should take him to the doctor. It sounds like there may be something wrong with his legs or something. I hope not, but it def. needs to be checked out.

  20. Honestly, that sounds alarming. You need to take him to your Family doctor and more than likely your going to need to see a neurologist. Babies pull on things to try to get theirselves to stand up atleast. And that is before the age of 1. So he really needs to see a doctor because it could be something wrong with him. But good Luck, hope all is well  ; )
