  1. Only spect and contacts. No other methods at all.

  2. Nope, sorry! Other than LASIK, only glasses and contacts can get rid of your myopic vision, but only while you wear them. No matter what anyone tells you, reading too much or eating a certain number of carrots will not improve your vision.

But, instead of putting in contacts during the day and taking them out at night, there are contacts that are put in at night and taken out during the day. They aren't normal contacts though: while you wear them, they flatten your cornea so that your vision is perfect during the day. It is an alternative to surgery, but the results aren't permanent. They are kind of like braces, but for your eyes. After the cornea is shaped, you will have to wear retainer lenses.

  3. Try to look at the genomic research on myopia.  What they all mean is that myopia is really genetically determined and there is no way we can alter them once imprinted in your genes.

"After a genomewide search, evidence of significant linkage was found on chromosome 18p"...Am J Hum Genet. 1998 Jul ;63 (1):109-19

"New locus for autosomal dominant high myopia maps to the long arm of chromosome 17"...Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2003 May ;44 (5):1830-6

"A second locus for familial high myopia maps to chromosome 12q"...Am J Hum Genet. 1998 Nov ;63 (5):1419-24.

Your only alternatives therefore are: spectacles, contact lenses, or laser refractive surgery to neutralize whatever myopia you have.

  4. People with myopia have eyes who's refraction or ability to bend light, it higher than 'normal'. This means the optics of the eyeball are too powerful for the length of that eye as far as being focused at a far distance.

How much myopia do you have? The power is equal to 1/d where d is in meters.

If you are too powerful for distance vision to be clear, and are 'already' focused up close, at a meter away or 39 inches or so, you are +1.00 too powerful. You'll need a -1.00 lens to move that focal distance out to 'infinity'.

If you are focused a 1/2 meter away, you are +2.00 too powerful and need a -2.00 lens to correct the power and move that focal point at a half meter out to 'infinity'.

    third of a meter, need a -3.00

    quarter of a meter, need a -4.00,

    fifth of a meter, -5.00

eighth of a meter, -8.00 etc.

This means that your cornea may be too steep or have a short radius of curvature. This makes if a more powerful lens. Or maybe your lens is too powerful and that, along with your 'normal' cornea makes a lens system that's too powerful for YOUR eye, or your axial length.

Of maybe you have a normal cornea and normal lens and lens system (cornea and lens together), but your eye is too 'long' and the power of the lens system bends the light so that it's focused in front of your retina.

It's sort of like having black hair, or red hair...you don't really choose to git rid of it. you learn to live with it or take advantage of it as it is.

The most physiological way would be to have a refractive lens exchange. This is basically cataract surgery but without having the foggy lens. This should be the last surgery you need as if fixes the power of the lens to fit the eye and that's that. But seeing up close after that won't be easy, you'll need to use glasses to bend the light so you can see up close. Maybe the newer 'bendable' lenses where you can see far and it'll bend so you can see near, would be a solution. OR maybe you could have placed in front of your own lens, an implant which would essentially fix the problem for now, but when you are 50 or so, you'll again need readers. (This is a really good way to go).

But you aren't broke... you don't need fixing. you've nothing to get rid of.

    It's a record !!
