Question:

Myrtle Beach, SC hurricane Hanna?

We have a road trip planned from Michigan to Myrtle Beach, SC next week. We have reservations to arrive on Sunday and depart the following Friday. We can't decide whether to go or not with Hurricane Hanna on it's way. Even though it's projected to hit on Friday/Saturday, I'm worried about damage or things being closed. Then of course Hurricane Ike may strike next week as well. Does anybody have suggestions about how to decide? If we decide not to go - we have to cancel our reservations by at least Thursday. And then we have to decide where to go for vacation b/c next week is our only week off. HELP!

  1. We live in Greenville, SC and have plans to leave in the am on thursday (tomorrow) and hanna is supposed to hit the next day but the room wont give a refund we have NO CLUE what to do good luck with your trip

  2. I live in the upper part of SC.

They are predicting it to hit late Friday night, through Saturday. I have been Myrtle Beach when a hurricane DID come up on the coast and it was awful.

Everything flooded and everything was torn up.

It's hard to tell, because they ALWAYS suck at predicting the "right" time.   I'd wait like a day or two and see what "path" it takes.

Hopefully, it will side swipe us and give a little rain and move on.

Good Luck! Myrtle Beach is AWESOME.

  3. I live 30 min north of Myrtle Beach. They don't know how strong the storm is going to be yet but they do know it is making landfall near the NC/SC border. I wouldnt make any major decisions until they can better predict how bad its going to be.Could stay a tropical storm. They usually get business up and running pretty quick I wouldnt worry about that.Hurricane Ike is expected to go west so no worries there.Keep in mind that any beach on the east coast is going to be affected by this so it might not be worth it to plan a trip elsewhere. The Hurricane prediction center website is a good one for information so keep checking there. Hope this helps Goodluck!

  4. i live right in the middle what is myrtle beach

and there is only pouring hard rain

it wont last long. so just come take ur

    vacation down here

  5. I live by the motto "better safe than sorry".  Right now it appears Hannah may not be all that bad, but a gazillion things could change that between now and when she makes landfall.  I would call the hotel and, if they won't make arrangements for a refund in case of the hurricane, make other plans.  But that's me.

An easy way to track Hanna is with http://www.USAMediaGuide.com.  It has a special section of links to Ike's projected path, National Hurricane Center and local news coverage, hurricane preparation tips, live streaming webcams, and other Hanna-related stuff.
