Mysterious guppy fry?

i have three guppies and a platy i purchased them about a week ago and i thought i got three male guppies but today i noticed a tiny little fry burying itself in the gravel. for some reason i didnt think much of it and continued on with my day but hours later i checked the tank and i saw another fry (or maybe the same one i saw earlier) so now im concerned that i have a female. i researched the differences between female and male guppies and all of them fit the male guppy appearance! i dont have a problem with having baby guppies i just don't understand. is it common? could it be the platy? none of them even look pregnant! what could it be?

-thanks for the help!

  1. It could be that you purchased a pregnant female that wasn't done having babies yet, or it could be that you purchased an already pregnant female platy. It's a common problem. People purchase a fish that's already pregnant, and end up with a bunch of babies. When the fry get bigger, you'll be able to tell if it's a guppy or a platy, then you'll have your answer

  2. well my best guess is maybe there was a nippy fish in the same tank in the petstore and probley bit off a bit of the anal fin and made her look like a male or possibley they acidentley caught a fry and you didnt notice it when you purchased it... and possibley stole a fish

  3. When they scooped your male guppies out of the tank, they may have scooped up a couple fry without realizing it.  Or you may simply have gotten a female--are any of them bigger and plumper than the others, with a smaller tail and less color?

  4. I bought a female guppy that looked just like a male one before ..

so it could be a female guppy I guess.
