Question:

Mystery Light Problem, Any Ideas?

I have a Toyota Corolla 1992, recently I turned off the car after coming home, and the rear lights were still on, the lights that turn on when you turn on the headlights. The headlights don't stay on however, nor the reverse lights. My boyfriend thinks its a problem with the switch on the steering console that turns on the rear and front lights, BUT if that were true, wouldn't the head lights stay on too? Anyone have any ideas it would be appreciated. Right now I have the battery cable disconnected because they don't turn off at all...and therefore I can't drive it anywhere, unless I want to always unhook and rehook the cable.

  1. Hi mate  I am looking for your answer and I will get back to you soon. In the mean time you might want to check following site- http://snipurl.com/3lw59 . It looks cool to me

  2. It could be the parking or tail light relay is stuck on.

  3. Are you sure its the taillights and not the brake lights? The brake light switch commonly goes out and causes the brake lights to stay on even when your not touching them. Beyond that look for a short to ground back by the lights. I had a customer with a f150 who had a taillight stay on like that and eventually I found the wiring harness had gotten close enough to the muffler to melt several wires together. It was enough to light the tail light but not enough of a ground to blow the fuse.
