Why is it that the symbol for the dollar is a letter "S" (e.g. one dollar = $1.00)?

               Spanish Coat .

               From a symbol used on the Roman sestertius.

               The two pillars in the temple of Solomon.

               From a sign used on the German Thaler.

               Unit of Silver.
