When it is hot or even when it is cold this has happened before.

The RPM goes crazy, it goes up to high RPM, then back down to low, WHILE THE CAR IS NOT DRIVING but sitting in traffic , while the car is still at a stop light or something, but the engine is on, the whole car tries to move forward by itself, similar to the way an angry bull will try to move forward when it is being held down, I mean a VERY angry bull, the car moves and jerks (it doesn't actually travel anywhere but you can feel it, if you know what I mean; in other words the tires aren't moving, but the car is jerking while it is sitting before the light turns green. ) And it seems to get worse when the car has either been driven a lot, or driven on the freeway, or if it is hot outside, some combination of these, then the car will do this, not that it won't do it on a cold day as well.

It is a Chevy Cavalier 2001.

it basically does the high to low RPM over and over, VERY FAST while the car is on and sitting in traffic, but jerking like an angry bull trying to get away or something

  1. hi,, the check engine light should have come on. if it did come on, you will need to retrieve the trouble code/s in order to repair the problem. or just take it to the shop for repair, tune up or what ever it needs.
