  1. I can't distinguish a rutabaga from radish, and you expect me to know what that is? I would say a freak of nature carrot. Cut it out with the DNA experiments.

  3. Wild carrots were white, later on, black, purple, yellow, and red ones were grown. It wasn’t until 300 years ago that patriotic Dutch scientists created carrots in Holland’s national color: orange! Maybe your mystery root vegetable is a throw back carrot from long ago.

  4. Jerusalem artichokes? I made a soup with them last week. Except that they don't look like carrots much, but are root vegetables.

  20. Hi Sounds like wild carrot - called Queen Annes Lace in the US the orginal wild carrot.  Often domesticated carrots release seeds which turn back to their wild ancestor.

    Are the roots spindly and tough to pull up?
