Myth on the origin of the waves of the ocean ..need ideas please!?

Question

I'm writing a story on the origin of the waves of the ocean (not a realistic one, I mean, I know how they are ACTUALLY made, but this is meant to be a fictional story...like the Greek myths or something).

I've gotten to the point where I need to formulate the story of how the waves were actually generated..but I don't have any ideas.

So far my story is as follows: a god above all gods creates the world, then creates everything in it, then creates other gods, goes to earth, comes back because of conflict between the gods and sends out other gods to earth in her stead. The other gods improve what they were sent out to guard....and then....nothing.

hahaha

where should i take this story? do you have any ideas on how the waves of the ocean could have been made? (FYI, my teacher said its perfectly alright to ask for ideas/opinions..so don't get on me for asking this).

One boy gave me the idea that someone got lost and sea and the waves were made so bring them back to land. i like the idea, but idk how to get to that point!

i think the gods should get mad and like kick the ocean or something, and then make it so that waves have been rolling ever since

Well i am not really sure if this is sort of thing that you are looking for or if it follows your storyline so far but...

The god or whoever is in charge of the world is evil. They created this world and disastrous things are happening. But one the gods they created knows how evil the creator god truly is and wants to save the world from her. She creates a plan that will save the world and will allow her to take it far away to never be harmed by the evil god again. First she will create a shield over all the creations of the land. Then she will cause great waves to cover all the land. The world seems ruined and the evil god decides to destroy it. The god who is good ( i know getting confusing with names) offers to destroy it but then takes it to some faraway place where it cannot be harmed. She then removes the great seas from over the land but leaves the waves as a reminder of how they saved them from evil!
