Mythbusters birthday party ideas?

My Almost 9 yr. old son wants to do a mythbusters party. I think it is a great idea but haven't quite formed how to do it. We live next to a park with a big field and here is what i have so far. For experiments, obviously coke and mentos, maybe balloon chair lift, pirate patch obstacle course (At home in a dark basement) , Frozen golf balls..do they hit further., and somehow get some ballistics gel and a copy of the backyard ballistics book. Make a few projectile launching things and have them aim at the gel mold.

Any other ideas that would be safe/easy? Also Ideas for favors and decorations.Hazard tape? We also have a estes rocket kit he got for xmas..we can launch that for kicks.

Thanks

  1. Your ideas so far are great.  You could also see if you can find some cheap safety goggles and hard hats (like the ones at toy stores, not real ones.  Those can get expensive).  You could give each child one to wear at the party, and then take them home as favors.  Sorry I don't have more ideas than that.  The ones you came up with are great.

  2. you could have him bust the myth that terrifies all kids; pop rocks and cola, at which rate just gives kids gas, but it's fun to watch. there's also myths like "are there really spider eggs in bubble yum?"

  3. cute Ideas really they are. I agree, get some safety goggles for the kids and lil hard hats. small white lab coats? maybe one or two for the ones doing certain "experiments" to wear. Drinks served out of beaker style glasses that are fun colors! or just sprite dyed green or purple with food coloring.
