Foster and his crazy power or Jones and his slick speed and power? This match up would have been great. Who do you think would have won? If you didn't ever get a chance to see Foster you really missed out.

  1. I think Foster would have major problems hitting Roy cleanly. Therefore I'll go with Jones on points.

  2. I would favor Jones in his prime but a 30 year old Jones would have hit the mat hard.

  3. Bob Foster is in my opinion the 2nd best light heavyweight champion in boxing history.  Some of his knockouts were just brutal and devastating.  I recall how he caught the quick and clever Mike Quarry coming in and knocked him out as if he had been shot with Quarry's leg quivering on the canvas.  I also remember when he completely knocked out d**k Tiger with one punch.  Bob was also a good boxer with a good jab standing at about 6'3" with a long reach.  Jones Jr is clever and at his best one of the quickest fighters I've ever seen with amazing reflexes.  I believe that this would be an interesting matchup with Jones dazzling Foster early on with his superior handspeed and winning the first few rounds before Foster starts to find his range and get his timing down.  In about the 9th round I believe that Jones Jr would look to come inside to throw some fast punches and would get hit square on the chin from Foster and would not beat the count.  My reason for this is that I just don't believe he would survive the vicious punching power of Foster.  Up to that point Jones would probably be winning the fight.  Foster 9th round Kayo!

  4. rj jr.

  5. Seriously, I would have to call it a toss up pick. In his prime, Jones was d**n near impossible to hit cleanly. With Jones' quickness, he could possible get a win over Foster by decision, in a 12 round fight. On the flipside, Foster had some nasty power in his hands and even against a prime Jones, all Bob would need is to land one solid blow to turn the tide.

As mentioned, it would be a toss up for me.... but I will say that it would either by a Jones victory by decision or a Foster victory by KO. I don't see it the other way around.
